Deacon Steve Ratterman was ordained in the Diocese of Knoxville on June 11, 2016. Deacon Steve and his family have been members of St. Therese since 1968. He has been involved in the Church in many different volunteer capacities at St. Therese since he was a teenager. His primary ministry is adult education/formation.
Deacon Steve has also been very active in the community having served two terms on the Cleveland City Council, as Chair of the Cleveland YMCA for two terms, as Chair of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, as President of the Jaycees, as a board member of the Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts, and has won numerous awards for other services.
Deacon Steve graduated from Indiana University – Kelley School of Business and did post graduate work at Salem State University. He is the founding partner of CSL Management. He has been married to Lucy since 1983 and they have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Reverend Mr. Byron (Barry) Maples was ordained a Deacon in the Catholic Church June 10, 2016 in the Diocese of Knoxville, TN, after completing the Permanent Diaconate Formation Program in the Diocese. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, magna cum laude from the University of Missouri. He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. He is a registered professional engineer (PE) and is employed with Cleveland Utilities in Cleveland, TN.
Deacon Barry is a convert to the Catholic Church from the Southern Baptist faith. He is a professed Discalced Carmelite, Secular (OCDS). He served as a Deacon at Saint Mary, Athens, TN before coming to Saint Therese of Lisieux in Cleveland, TN.
Deacon Barry is a native of Cleveland, TN. He and his wife Charlene have two children, a daughter, a son (deceased), one granddaughter (deceased), one grandson (deceased) and four grandsons. He and his wife are both active in the RCIA program at Saint Therese of Lisieux. They are Patrons of the Catholic Foundation of East Tennessee Diocese of Knoxville, TN. He is a fourth- degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
